The PBX is an automated telephone station designed to link subscribers (who are connected to it) to one another and also with external (public) telephone networks. It is also used to optimise subscribers’ line loading.
The typical automated office PBX is usually used in small- and medium-sized companies and is connected to a Public Switched Telephone Network to provide external links. The office PBXs offered by Mastertel are produced by the following leading manufacturers – Avaya, Nortel, NEC, Ericsson and LG. Modern PBXs have a number of useful functions aimed at making office work more successful and comfortable. They enable you to fully organise the communications process, to optimise office management, to reduce non-productive hours, to provide timely running and security of information, to use public connection lines rationally and, finally, to provide effective communication between you, the consumer and many others.
In terms of the maximum allowed number of subscribers’ lines, PBXs can be divided into three classes: small, medium and large (office-production). Office-production PBXs (512 or more external subscribers’ lines) have all the functions of medium PBXs. They can also be used as part of a Public Switched Telephone Network, using protocols such as OKC-7 and R1.5, which cannot be connected to higher level PBXs through subscribers’ lines.
Choosing an office PBX is only the first step on the way to business ‘telephonisation’. For a telecommunications infrastructure to work effectively it is necessary to connect the PBX to a telephone network of a ‘common’ use and to create the necessary inter-corporate network. When choosing PBX equipment you must pay special attention to the way it will be ‘connected’ to internal and external connection- and data- transmission networks. If your plan is to include the maximum functional possibilities and use the PBX in transit and gateway form, then the PBX should provide all interfaces through which the Public Switched Telephone Network can provide connection.
It should be noted that the selection process, starting with the objectives and targets of the enterprise’s telecommunications assignment up to and including the detailed plan of the technical task is complicated and requires special knowledge. In the process of telephonisation, a company faces the complex task of providing its own office with a high quality connection, as well as purchasing a PBX and building a network. The most effective solution is by collaborating with connection Service Providers. Besides project audit and design, selection, supply and construction of telecommunications equipment and the building of corporate networks, Service Providers offer increased capacity, telephony, Internet access and other necessary connection services. Mastertel’s specialists have many years experience in the telecommunications arena, with most of them possessing registered certificates. Mastertel’s experienced specialists will help you to choose the most suitable type of equipment.
